Notorious gangster killed in encounter in MP

Indore: A notorious gangster, allegedly involved in the murder of BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leader
Rajesh Tiwari, was killed and a police inspector was injured during an encounter in Vijay Nagar area
early on June 27, police said.
Talking to reporters, IG Indore, V M Kanwar said the gangster identified as Guddu belonged to Dewas
and was wanted in connection with a number of cases including murder, loot and attempts to murder.
He was also involved in the murder of Tiwari in March 2003, that had rocked the Madhya Pradesh
Assembly.
Acting on a tip-off police spotted the gangster and asked him to surrender. He, however, opened fire,
prompting police to retaliate.
After a few rounds of exchange of fire he was gunned down, Kanwar said adding that a police inspector
was injured in the incident.
However, his accomplice managed to flee from the spot.
Guddu was carrying a reward of Rs 15,000 announced by IG of Ujjain, he said adding a country-made
revolver and a knife was recovered from his possession.
The injured constable was admitted to the hospital, he added.
