Nothing to fear about China, says Vajpayee
Friday, June 27 2003 00:00 Hrs (IST)

Shanghai: Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on June 27 asserted that India has not conceded anything on the Tibet issue and dismissed criticism that it has not gained anything on the Sikkim issue from the Chinese side.

Addressing a press conference at the end of his six-day official visit, he also discounted fears that opening of border trade between the two countries would lead to difficulties.

"There is no basis for such fears," he said.

"There is nothing new in what we have stated (on Tibet). What we have stated is what we have been saying for years," Vajpayee said when it was suggested that while India has conceded on Tibet, it has got nothing in return in writing from China.
