India disturbing conventional arms balance: Pak

Washington: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has said India was disturbing the conventional
balance of arms by increasing the Defence budget by over 50 per cent over the past three years.
Stating that India had access to all markets of defence purchases in the world, the President said he
expressed his concerns over the issue when he met US President Bush at Camp David a few days ago.
In an interview with 'Washington Post', Musharraf said, "India has got a multi-billion Dollar purchase
package in various countries of the world. Whenever this materialises, it will upset the tactical order,
conventional balance, force balance in the region. This is a cause of concern."
Reacting to a report saying that India is purchasing the "Arrow" and "Patriots" from the US, Musharraf
said he did not raise the issue of individual weapons systems. "But certainly we raised the issue of our
concern on the conventional balance being disturbed," he added.
