I had married Nisha Sharma, says former classmate
Sunday, June 29 2003 13:11 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: In a new twist to the Nisha Sharma dowry harassment case, a former classmate of hers on June 29 claimed that he had married her on February 14, four months before she returned her would-be groom on charges of dowry demand. Nisha, however, rubbished the claim saying it was "totally false" and that he was a "fraud".

"I married her at a Noida temple on February 14. We had also prepared an affidavit of marriage which was duly signed by Nisha. Since at that time I was not 21 years old we couldn't register our marriage," Navneet Rai, Nisha's former classmate, said.

He said he didn't make the document public hoping that Nisha would come out with the truth. "But now since Nisha started talking against me and her would-be groom Munish Dalal is still languishing in jail I have decided to go public about our marriage," he said.

Nisha Sharma, however, termed Navneet's claims as "utter nonsense" and "totally false". "I never married him, he is a fraud," she said. Nisha's father D D Sharma said that they were going to file an FIR against Navneet for making a false affidavit.
