Alert railway gangman averts train mishap

Cuddalore (TN): A major train mishap was averted on June 29 morning when an alert railway gangman found fish-plates missing about one kilometre from the Kothanur station in the Salem-Virudhachalam section.

The matter was reported to Kothanur station master who detained the Salem-Virudhachalam passenger train and rushed the railway engineers to the spot.

The "Q" branch of police arrested two persons of Tamilar Viduthalai Padai in connection with the incident and were taken to Neyveli for interrogation.
