CBI to produce Mustaffa Majnu before special court
Sunday, June 29 2003 11:29 Hrs (IST)
Mumbai: In keeping with a judicial order, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) would on June 30 produce
1993 bomb blast accused Mustaffa Majnu before a special court which would consider extension of his
judicial custody and give its ruling on including him in the ongoing trial.
On last occasion, designated judge P D Kode had remanded Majnu to judicial custody till June 30 and
reserved order on CBI's plea to include him in the trial. Majnu, brother of absconding accused
Mohammed Dossa, was deported on March 20 from Dubai. However, a legal issue had cropped up as
his name does not figure in the list of accused or absconding accused. His involvement figured in
confession of co-accused, defence lawyer Farhana Shah said.
CBI filed supplementary charge sheet against Majnu on May 3. CBI alleged that Mustaffa was deeply
involved in the conspiracy and had attended a meeting in Dubai at the house of main conspirator
Dawood Ibrahim. Mustaffa is also charged with sending his men to Dighi coast in Raigad district on
January 9, 1993 for landing of arms and ammunition used in the serial explosions.
In February 1993 some accused went to Pakistan via Dubai for arms training and stayed with Mustaffa in
the Gulf. Mustaffa also took them to Dawood Ibrahim, CBI alleged.
Mustaffa is also charged with making travel arrangements for departure of co-accused Ahmed Lambu,
Sayyed Qureshi, Yusuf Batka, Abu Baker and Shoeb Baba to Pakistan for arms training. Mustaffa's
involvement came to light during probe in 1995 but he was not traceable. Later, the court issued arrest
warrant and proclamation order against him.
