UAE Chief of Army Staff, Advani hold talks

New Delhi: A top United Arab Emirates (UAE) military official had talks with the Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani on June 30.

UAE's Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan is on a three-day official visit to New Delhi. The details of the talks are not known.

Nahyan, heading a high-level team, is also slated to hold delegation-level talks with Foreign Minister Yashwant Sinha.

Local reports said Nahyan's talks with the Indian leadership would focus on expanding bilateral co- operation in security related issues, Defence and energy sectors.

The Indian leaders are expected to push for more help from UAE to block funding of terrorist outfits by Gulf-based organisations. India and the UAE have an existing treaty on mutual legal assistance.
