Lucknow: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) team, undertaking excavation work at the disputed site in Ayodhya, on July 1 sought a further time of three months to complete the work.

The ASI before the special/full Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court moved an application seeking extension.

Moving the application, the ASI team pleaded for further extension, saying the work of excavation was not yet complete.

It prayed for a further time of three months to complete the excavation work and submission of final report.

As there were some technical defects in the ASI's application, the court directed it to rephrase its application and file the same later.

The special bench, comprising justice Sudhir Narain, justice S R Alam and justice Bhanwar Singh, directed the ASI team leader Hari Majhi, the representative of the tojo vikas international and the commissioner of Faizabad to appear before the court on July 2.

The tojo vikas international had earlier carried out a ground penetrating radar survey of the disputed site.
