Amjad Ali Khan sends Paris crowd on a rhapsody
Tuesday, July 1 2003 16:50 Hrs (IST)

Paris: India's internationally acclaimed Sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan held a packed audience at Bacilica, an ancient church in Paris spellbound at a concert lasting over two hours on June 30 night.

The Sarod maestro was ably assisted by ace cellist Matthew Barley and award winning tabla player Talvin Singh during his performance that marked the conclusion of the one-month long festival of St Denise. It was a sell-out show.

Amjad Ali Khan displayed a repertoire of ragas but he was repeatedly applauded when he played Rag Malkauns and concluded the show with Rag Bhairavi.

Cellist Barley played a solo composed by Beethoven.
