'India will survive assaults to its secular fabric'

Pondicherry: Pondicherry Lt Governor K R Malkani on July 2 said that India would survive any 'assaults' to its secular fabric from various quarters and would respond in a fitting manner.

This was so because secularism had firmly entrenched itself in the country for a long time, he said, inaugurating a national level quiz programme, organised by the youth wing of the Chinmaya Mission.

Urging the Chinmaya Mission to kindle awareness among the youth to know more about India, he said India had a rich tradition and culture.

Education minister K Lakshminarayanan and Swami Mitrananda, president of All India Yuva Kendra of the Chinmaya Mission, also spoke. PTI
