Driver mistake may be behind train mishap: Nitish
Wednesday, July 2 2003 14:49 Hrs (IST)

Patna: Railway Minister Nitish Kumar said that the train accident in Andhra Pradesh in which 14 persons were killed may be due to driver's mistake and ordered an inquiry by the Commissioner, Railway Safety (South).

"It seems the driver of the train ignored the signal and overshot the train. As a result, two to three bogeys were derailed," Kumar said.

When asked that whether train's brakes had failed, he said "I do not have more details than this" but said that the Commissioner, Railway Safety (South), would inquire into the accident and would submit a detailed report.
