India, Nepal agree to strengthen security co-operation

Kathmandu: In order to strengthen co-operation in combating crime and terrorist activities, Nepal and
India have agreed to devise an effective mechanism to check terrorism, cross-border crime, narcotic
smuggling and human trafficking.
At the third meeting of Nepal-India Interpol Officers on July 4, the two sides decided to co-operate in
combating terrorist activities, wildlife smuggling and counterfeit currency by sharing intelligence and
rendering proactive assistance, an Indian Embassy press release said.
In order to devise a system of verification of persons seeking employment and checking movement of
criminals, the two sides also agreed to a "Antecedents Verification Proforma" for making request through
Interpol channel.
The two sides also decided to share information on organised criminal gangs involved in human
trafficking and stressed on the need for close co-operation along the border.
They also agreed to share information on stolen vehicles and vehicles used by criminals.
At the meeting, the Nepalese team was led by Deputy Inspector General Kumar Koirala and the Indian
team was led by DIG, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Sudhir Pratap Singh.
The two sides also agreed to hold a follow-up meeting in India within six months.
