Chennai: The Shankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Jayendra Saraswati, said that the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) should "explain" as to why it had rejected his proposals.

"They ought to have spoken to me before going public," he said reacting to the rejection of his proposal by the AIMPLB in New Delhi on July 6.

In an informal chat with newsmen on the sidelines of a function in Chennai, the Shankaracharya said he would continue his efforts to solve the Ayodhya issue by bringing together the disputing parties.
