Monday, July 7 2003 21:16 Hrs (IST)

Bangalore: Timely action of two Railway drivers averted a possible accident involving a goods train between Savordem-Curchorem and Kalem stations of Hubli Division of South Western Railway, (SWR) said on July 7.

SWR said while working on the goods train bound for Konkan Railway Corporation Limited on July 6, a senior goods driver L R Gaokar and M Pundarikam of Castlerock Depot noticed a big tree that had fallen across the track.

They immediately stopped the train and "backed it" to Savordem-Curchorem station, it said in a statement, adding, the obstruction was cleared with the help of gangmen and accident averted.
