SC sets aside Hindujas' acquittal in Bofors case
Monday, July 7 2003 11:17 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on July 7 set aside the acquittal of three Hinduja brothers in the Bofors pay-off case.

The apex court allowed the appeal of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) challenging a Delhi High Court order of May 2002, by which the chargesheet filed against the Hinduja brothers was quashed on the ground that the investigating agency had not taken prior permission of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), before filing the charges against them.

A Bench comprising Justice S Rajendra Babu and Justice G P Mathur allowed the appeal filed by CBI and set aside a High Court order dated May 10, 2002. The Supreme Court also allowed the appeal filed by CVC challenging the HC order.
