Monday, July 7 2003 10:35 Hrs (IST)

Shimla: Congress president Sonia Gandhi on July 7 said her party was ready to face Lok Sabha elections anytime in 2003 or 2004 and was confident that the people will reject the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.

Addressing a Congress conclave in Shimla, she referred to the talk of advancing Lok Sabha elections due in 2004.

"We are ready to face the elections either this year (2003) or next year (2004) whenever they are held. I am confident that the people will reject the incompetent NDA government led by BJP," Gandhi said.

She said the government was exploiting the issue of terrorism and was using it to divide the people.
