Wednesday, July 9 2003 12:47 Hrs (IST)
Bhuj: Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani on July 9 expressed hope that a rejuvenated post-quake Kutch
would prove to be an inspiration for the rest of the country.
Recalling the changed face of another Gujarat town, Morbi, after the devastating floods, Advani
said, "better things emerged after a crisis as we have seen in Morbi. I am confident that people's efforts
in new Kutch would not only inspire Gujarat but also the rest of the country."
He was speaking after inaugurating the Kutch Comprehensive Rehabilitation Centre, a voluntary effort in
Bhuj.
Advani emphasised on the importance of citizens voluntarily serving in hospitals and schools as it would
not only give them satisfaction but also boost the morale of the employees.
Appreciating the presence of visually challenged persons as physiotherapists at the Rehabilitation
Centre, he described the rehabilitation efforts as unprecedented.
Earlier, on his arrival at Bhuj, Advani was received among others by Gujarat Assembly Speaker
Mangalbhai Patel, state Minister Ashok Bhatt and former Chief Minister Suresh
Bhai Mehta.
Advani was accompanied by Union Minister of State for Culture Bhavnaben Chikhalia.
