Report says Maran dead; Consulate contradicts

New Delhi: Conflicting reports on the health of former Union Minister Murasoli Maran emanated on July
9. While unconfirmed reports said he had passed away, the Indian Consulate in New York asserted his
condition was "serious but stable".
Maran had been undergoing treatment in a US hospital after he developed serious complications
following a heart operation.
He was a Minister without Portfolio.
