Choose between secularism and hindutva: VHP to BJP
Wednesday, July 9 2003 19:56 Hrs (IST)
Jaipur: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on July 9 said if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National
Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre did not facilitate Ram temple construction at
Ayodhya, it would help in formation of a new political party believing in "Hindu dharma".
"All sants are now seriously thinking of facilitating the formation of a new political party having no secular
ideology by believing in Hindu dharma and VHP will support such a party in next Lok Sabha and
Assembly polls," Acharya Dharmendra, VHP Kendriya Margadarshak Committee member, told
reporters.
He said if BJP could not bring a Legislation in Parliament on Ayodhya issue and get the
Ramjanambhoomi and undisputed land to Hindus, it should come out of the NDA fold.
"The BJP could now take a somersault and say it is not in the NDA agenda," he added.
Dharmendra suggested the Vajpayee government should bring in two Bills, one on temple construction
and another on anti-cow slaughter, in the coming monsoon session of Parliament.
He said VHP would not favour any private member Bill on these issues and asked Vajpayee government
to do the job.
