Nagpur: Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani on July 13 regretted the visual media's tendency to "mislead"
occasionally and said TV cannot influence public opinion in the manner the print media can.
Interacting with journalists and other employees of the pro-RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh)
Marathi daily 'Tarun Bharat' at its headquarters in Nagpur, Advani said, "TV cannot influence in the
manner newspapers and magazines can. TV has an immediate impact. But, at times, it could mislead."
He said influenced by TV "there was a tendency even among newspapers to become more sensational."
Recalling the days when people associated with the sangh parivar shied away from publicity, he
stressed on the need for upgrading technology of papers propagating the sangh ideology.
Later, during an interactive session with journalists of the newspaper, he said the Lok Sabha Speaker
was trying to resolve the deadlock on the women's reservation issue.
On the Centre's proposal for a federal security agency, Advani said the states were apprehensive that it
was an infringement of their right. But, in actuality, it only put
additional responsibility on the Centre.
