Lucknow: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) on July 14 denied Kanchi Shankaracharya's statement that a mediator was still negotiating with the Board on his behalf discussing a solution to the Ayodhya issue.

"The reports appearing in a section of the press in this regard are completely baseless," AIMPLB spokesman Dr S Q R Ilyas said.

"The Board is not in touch with the seer, nor has it authorised any one to speak to him in this regard," Ilyas said.

Reports quoting the Kanchi seer said that though he was not in direct contact with the Board, there was a negotiator doing the job on his behalf.
