No discipline in my party, laments Fernandes
Tuesday, July 15 2003 22:50 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Samata Party president and Defence Minister George Fernandes on July 15 openly admitted that there was no discipline in his party and said it was posing the biggest problem.

"There are only a few people who abide by party's rules and regulations. In our party any MP can speak inside or outside Parliament or party forum. Anybody can abuse anybody. There is no limit to it," he told reporters.

Lack of discipline was the greatest problem in the party, Fernandes said, adding he did not know its solution.

He said he was feeling helpless for quite sometime now.

Taking responsibility for the sad state of affairs in the party, he said, "Since I am the party president, I take the entire blame. Action should be taken against me."
