New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi has convened a meeting of major Opposition parties on
July 15 to evolve the Floor strategy in Lok Sabha, even as Communist Party of India – Marxist (CPM)
leader Somnath Chatterjee said he would invite two former National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners
who have snapped ties with the ruling coalition to another such meeting early next week.
"Congress has approached us and invited all Opposition parties for a meeting on Sunday to chalk out
the Floor strategy," Chatterjee told reporters.
He said, "I too have convened a meeting on Tuesday in which I propose to invite (Rashtriya Lok Dal
chief) Ajit Singh and (National Conference chief) Omar Abdullah. They are now out of NDA."
The Marxist leader said the ruling coalition partners "are now realising that BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party)
is trying to control the smaller parties and misusing them", Chatterjee said.
Replying to a question about NC's status in Jammu and Kashmir as opposed to the Democratic People's
Forum led by CPM which is part of the ruling coalition there, he said Abdullah was being invited for the
meeting purely to oppose the BJP-led NDA rule inside Parliament.
