Jammu: Two militants of pro-Pakistani outfit Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), including a division commander, were killed in separate encounters with security forces in Doda and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir since July 15 night, police said.

Army troops cordoned off Thaloran forest belt in Gandoh tehsil of Doda district on July 15 night to track a group of Pakistani militants operating in the area since the past three months, sources said.

When the militants saw the troops approaching they opened fire, the sources said.

A militant was killed in the exchange of fire. He was identified as Zuber alias Zahir, the divisional commander of HM, sources said, adding he had been the oldest militant operating in Doda hills so far.

One AK rifle, one wireless set, 210 rounds, five magazines and four grenades were recovered, the sources said, adding one jawan was injured.

In a separate encounter, another HM militant identified as Waqas Khan was killed at Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district on July 15 night, the sources said, adding one AK-47 rifle, five magazines, one pistol, two hand grenades and a wireless set were recovered.
