Goodwill galore as Pak couple set-up 'Dosti' trust

Bangalore: Noor Fatima, who has become a rallying point for a huge outpouring of goodwill and
emotions across the Indo-Pak divide, on July 16 inspired her parents to float a trust to help poor
Pakistani children in need of treatment in Bangalore after the hospital (Narayana Hrudayalaya) waived
off Rs 1.4 lakhs in expenses for her heart operation.
Overwhelmed by the offers of public and philanthropic organisations to foot her expenses, Narayana
Hrudalaya, where Noor was successfully operated upon on July 15 for plugging holes in her heart,
waived Rs 1.4 laks which her father Nadeem Sajjad had paid in advance.
Responding in equal measure, Sajjad politely turned down the offer and in addition contributed Rs
50,000 to "Dosti", a trust named after the bus they travelled from Lahore to India last week, for providing
treatment to Pakistani children intending to come here.
The instant setting up of a trust with contributions came at a fund-raising function organised by Rotary
Bangalore Health Unit for meeting Fatima's medical expenses in
Bangalore.
On the first day itself the contributions to the 'Dosti Trust' touched Rs 1.5 lakh.
