Teenagers loot Rs 1 cr from Lucknow jewellery shop

Lucknow: In a daring robbery, four unidentified teenagers looted over Rs 1 crore in cash and jewellery
from a shop in a bustling upmarket area in Lucknow on July 17 after overpowering the lone guard, police
sources said.
The youth came into the jewellery shop, located on the first floor of a shopping plaza at Bhootnath
Market in Indira Nagar locality, held the guard at gun point, downed the shutters of the shop before
taking jewellery and cash of over Rs 1 crore, they said.
The whole operation lasted for just over 15 minutes and the youths escaped in a green car, the sources
said.
They said two employees from the jewellery-maker in Mumbai were in the shop when the loot took place.
They were carrying 11.5 kg gold with them, which was also looted.
The sources said Lucknow's border with neighbouring districts has been sealed and a manhunt
launched to arrest the robbers.
The incident triggered panic in the market where shops closed as traders staged demonstration against
police administration.
