Naga Hoho committed for reconciliation among Nagas
Friday, July 18 2003 21:14 Hrs (IST)

Kohima: Naga Hoho, the apex tribal council, on July 18 said it was committed to work for unity and re- conciliation among Nagas in consultation with other organisations, to facilitate the on-going peace process for an amicable settlement to decades-old Naga political problem.

The Hoho, in its 'assembly' in Kohima, deliberated upon issues concerning the Naga peace process, particularly the process of reconciliation launched by the council in December 2001, council sources said after the day-long discussions.

On strong opposition by the Nationalist Social Council of Nagaland-Isaak/Muivah (NSCN-IM) to the inclusion of two particular members in the Naga Hoho constituted re-conciliation commission, the July 18 discussions kept the issue in abeyance by not ratifying the inclusion of the two in the panel.

The meeting also reaffirmed commitment for unification of all Naga-inhabited areas and expressed happiness over reports of extension of cease-fire between the Centre and NSCN-IM by another year.
