Noor Fathima stable, kept under observation

Bangalore: Pakistani girl Noor Fatima who is recuperating after undergoing open-heart surgery at a
cardiac speciality hospital on the city outskirts "is progressing well and her condition is stable", the
doctor attending on her said.
"All her vital parameters are fine. Though she was taken off the ventilator on July 18, she is still under
observation in the intensive thoracic unit (ITU)", Dr Rajesh Sharma Paediatric Cardiac Surgeon who led
the team which performed the operation of the two and half year-old Noor, said.
"We want to keep her in the ITU for atleast another two days. If things are fine, we will then shift her to
the ward", he said.
Noor, who came in the first Lahore-Delhi bus trip on July 11 last after its resumption, underwent the six-
hour operation for ventricular septal defect with pulmonary stenosis on July 15.
According to the doctors, the surgery involved plugging of two holes in the heart and removal of
obstruction to blood flow from the right ventricle to the pulmonary artery.
