Beijing: The situation between India and Pakistan, post war developments in Iraq and the North Korean
nuclear issue figured in talks between Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and visiting British Prime Minister
Tony Blair on July 21.
The two leaders discussed the developments between two South Asian countries, with Blair observing
that the situation in the region has displayed "some worrying signs".
Briefing reporters on Blair's meeting with Chinese leaders, Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan said
Wen hailed the recent peace initiatives made by the two countries.
Wen, Kong said, felt that the situation in South Asia has "relaxed to a certain extent" and China is willing
to work with the international community and make its own efforts to maintain peace and stability in
South Asia.
Wen also briefed Blair on Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee's weeklong visit to China in June, Kong
said.
During talks, Blair also offered to help China maintain political stability in Hong Kong, a former British
colony.
This is Blair's second official visit to China since he became Britain's youngest Prime Minister in 1997.
He last visited China in1998.
Blair's entourage includes his wife Cherie Blair, senior officials and a delegation of entrepreneurs. He is
on a three-nation tour of Asia that has already taken him to Japan and South Korea.
