Jammu: Two jawans were feared killed when two militants in Army uniform carried out a suicide attack on an Army camp in Akhnoor in Jammu district early on July 22 morning.

Two militants alighted from a vehicle and began firing on security guards at 610 EME Camp at Tanda in Akhnoor around 05:30 hours this morning, official sources said.

In the firing two jawans were feared killed and four others wounded as these two militants entered deep inside the camp lobbying grenades and opening indiscriminate firing, sources added.

The camp has been sealed and crack commandos of Army have been rushed to track down militants and eliminate them.

Police is also assisting them in operation. This attack has come barely less than 12 hours after an attack on Balganga in Katra where seven pilgrims had been killed and 48 others injured on July 21.

An Army spokesman said the exchange of fire inside the camp was still going on.

It is precisely not yet known about the number of militants having entered the camp, he said adding that exact details would be known after the operation is over.
