Guwahati: Three coaches of a goods train derailed in Assam's North Cachar Hills district killing two persons on N F Railways metre gauge section, railway sources said in Guwahati on July 22.

Two wagons and the guard van of the down train coming from Lumding to Badarpur with rice jumped the rails near Harangajho on July 21.

The two deceased, who were yet to be identified, were not railway employees and were suspected to be trespassers in the train. They were trapped under the brake van, the sources said.

Senior railway officials had rushed to the site and the cause of the accident was under investigation.

Police sources said there was no bomb blast at the derailment site, which was a hotbed of insurgent activities.

Meanwhile, the tracks were cleared this morning at 5.30 a m and trains were operating normally, the sources added.
