'Attack on pilgrims a bid to derail peace process'

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed condemned tonight's (July 21)
twin blasts that left seven devotees dead and 42 injured at Banganga near Katra on way to Vaishno
Devi shrine saying it was an attempt to derail the peace process.
"This is an attempt to derail the peace process," he told reporters in Srinagar.
Condemning the attack, Governor Lt Gen (retd) S K Sinha, who is also the Chairman of the Vaishno
Devi Shrine Board, said, "This is a desperate attempt by the militants to make their presence felt in the
area."
National Conference President Omar Abdullah, deploring the attack, demanded a thorough probe into
the "serious" security lapse.
Abdullah appealed to the people to maintain communal harmony "as the attack is aimed at triggering
communal frenzy".
