Britain condemns 'terrible acts' of terrorism in J&K
Tuesday, July 22 2003 20:06 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw on July 22 rang up External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha and expressed his unreserved condemnation for the "terrible acts" of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

During the 10-minute telephonic talk, Straw expressed his deep condolences to the government of India and to the families of the victims, External Affairs Ministry spokesman told reporters.

The two Ministers also discussed dates for Straw's next visit to India and agreed that it should be soon, possibly towards the end of 2003.

They also spoke about the recent developments in South Asia. Britain has welcomed Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee's peace initiative with Pakistan.
