VHP demands Israeli-type raids on terrorist hideouts

New Delhi: Charging the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government with "lack of will" in crushing
cross-border terrorism, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on July 22 demanded "Israeli-type" raids on
terrorist bases wherever they were located.
Condemning the attack on Vaishno Devi pilgrims at Katra on July 21 night as "dastardly", VHP senior
vice president Acharya Giriraj Kishore said, "Mere verbal condemnation will not do. We should pay tit for
tat in the language they (terrorists) understand. Israeli type action should be carried out wherever
terrorist hideouts are located.
"Nothing can be achieved with lack of will. We should be determined for a now-or-never action. If the
government takes a resolve, people would support them. Efforts should be made to ensure that last
night's attack was the last attack on Vaishno Devi pilgrims," he said.
Kishore said the attack was "shameful" as the state had a former Army General as its Governor. Alleging
that state Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed was sympathetic to terrorists, the VHP leader said he
was "untrustworthy".
Kishore also said the attack exposed Pakistan's "double standards" as "on the one hand, it sends
delegations on goodwill mission and on the other, carries out attacks on innocent pilgrims."
Interestingly Kishore, along with VHP working president Vishnu Hari Dalmiya, on July 21 had a meeting
with Pakistani hardline leader Fazal-ur-Rahman, who is currently on a goodwill mission.
