Cabinet gives the nod for priority agenda

New Delhi: As part of its efforts to achieve eight per cent economic growth in tenth plan, Cabinet on July
23 approved a list of thrust areas part of which would be monitored directly by Prime Minister Atal Behari
Vajpayee.
The Cabinet has cleared 47 priority items of which first category containing seven items would be
monitored by Vajpayee, an official spokesperson said here after the C computerisation of Income Tax
system to benefit the tax payers and improve the income tax administration.
Another priority item is timely completion of Golden Quadrilateral project joining North-South and East-
West corridors, the spokesperson said adding Prime Minister would also monitor speedy implementation
of assistance package for weavers and artisans announced by him.
The Cabinet also approved another list of 115 items priority thrust items related to policy issues of which
23 items would be monitored directly by Vajpayee and rest by the Committee of Secretaries.
