Wednesday, July 23 2003 12:13 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: Shares resumed on a promising note at the opening on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on July 23 as a large number of pivotals, mainly from pharma and software, recovered smartly, erasing their overnight losses, following emergence of heavy buying from operators as well as institutions.

The BSE 30-share Sensitive Index opened sharply higher at 3571.75 as against the July 22 close of 3554.13 and moved up further to a high of 3592.89 before being quoted at 3584.95 at 10:40 hours (IST).

Positive advices from Wall Street also aided the positive trend as the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the NASDAQ Composite Industrial Average rose by 61.76 points and 24.61 points on July 22 night respectively.
