'Lashkar, Jaish issuing threats against PM, DPM'

New Delhi: Militant groups operating in Jammu and Kashmir, especially the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), have been issuing threats against Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister and other VIPs from time to time, Rajya Sabha was informed on July 23.

Disclosing this, Minister of State for Home Harrin Pathak said in a written reply that security reviews of the existing arrangements have been undertaken for firming up the security cover of these VVIPs/VIPs.

In reply to another question, Pathak said that during his visit to United States, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani was assured by US President George W Bush that he would take up with Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf the need for creating a conducive atmosphere for Prime Minister's peace initiative.
