SENSEX stages mild rally in opening session

Mumbai: Share prices opened higher extending overnight gains on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on July 24 following fresh buying by operators on the back of positive advices from the Wall Street.

The BSE-30 share Sensitive Index resumed sharply higher at 3595.60 as against the July 23 close of 3577.89 and moved in a range between 3599.22 and 3572.64 before being quoted at 3584.10 at 10:45 hours (IST).

Index-based shares like ACC, ITC, BHEL, BSES, Cipla, Dr Reddy, GACL, HDFC, HPCL, HCL Tech, Satyam Computer and Tisco were quoted higher on good buying support.

However, Hero Honda, HLL, Infosys Tech, L&T, Ranbaxy and Telco suffered a moderate setback on selling.

Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the tech-heavy NASDAQ Composite Index finished higher by 35.79 points and 13.05 points respectively on July 23 night.
