Maliha Lodhi appointed Pak High Commissioner to UK

Islamabad: Pakistan has appointed Dr Maliha Lodhi as its next High Commissioner to the United
Kingdom, 'The News' reported on July 26.
A distinguished journalist, academician and diplomat, Lodhi had earlier served twice as Ambassador to
the United States. She is also a recipient of the Hilal-i-Imtiaz, Pakistan's highest civilian award.
Before becoming a diplomat, Lodhi was editor of "The News" from 1990 to 1993 and again from 1997 to
1999. She has also edited 'The Muslim' from 1987 to 1990.
Academically, she has taught at the London School of Economics from 1980 to 1985 and been a
professor at the Quaid-e-Azam University from 1977 to 1978. She obtained her Ph.D from the London
School of Economics in 1980.
She is the author of two books – 'Pakistan's Encounter with Democracy' and 'The External Challenge'.
Some months ago, there was speculation about her being appointed as High Commissioner to India.
