'Reunion of Naxalite factions in the offing'
Saturday, July 26 2003 15:43 Hrs (IST)
Siliguri: The veteran Naxalite leader, Kanu Sanyal, on July 26 said that all Naxalite factions would be
merged to launch a 'real' and revolutionary
communist party in the country.
All factions having faith in Communism would attend a six-day meet in Kolkata starting from August 2 to
thrash out modalities for formal amalgamation, Sanyal, the general secretary of the Communist
Organisation of India (Marxist-Leninist), told reporters.
The meet would also select a name for the proposed new Communist party and draft its Constitution,
Sanyal, the legendary Naxalite leader, said.
Claiming that common people were fast losing faith and respect in Communism due to partisan role
played by the Left Front governments, Sanyal said that the new Communist party's first target would be
to restore confidence of the masses in the ideology and oppose the wrong economic policies of the
National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre.
He alleged that the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM)-led Left Front government in West Bengal
was out to seize trade union rights of workers and in stead protect interests of investors under the
pretext of bipartite agreements.
