Monday, July 28 2003 13:07 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day on July 28 as a mark of respect to sitting Congress member George Eden, who died on July 26.

Condoling Eden's death, Deputy Speaker P M Sayeed said he had known Eden for many years and in his death, he had lost a personal friend.

Eden, 50, represented Ernakulam Parliamentary constituency in Kerala.

An advocate by profession, Eden was an active political and social worker and was a member of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram.

The House stood in silence for a minute in memory of the departed soul.
