BSE: SENSEX rallies past 3,750-resistance level
Monday, July 28 2003 13:19 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: The SENSEX opened firm and rallied past 3,750-resistance during morning trading on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on July 28 on sustained purchases by Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) coupled with buying support from operators.

FIIs, which have stepped up their activity by making net investments of Rs 325 crore in the first four sessions during last week, are believed to be heavy buyers in several old economy counters.

Operators too have started making fresh commitments on the back of better-than-expected first quarter financial results announced by major corporate houses so far, brokers said, largely attributing fresh rally to increased FII activity.

The BSE sensitive index opened remarkably higher at 3,745.99 as against July 25 close of 3,726.46 and later spurted to a high of 3,774.19 before being quoted at 3,767.48 at 10.30 am (IST).

ACC, Bajaj Auto, BHEL, Cipla, Dr Reddy's Lab, Grasim, HDFC, HCL Tech, Hero Honda, Hindalco, Infosys Tech, ITC, L&T, MTNL, Ranbaxy Lab, RIL, Satyam Computer, SBI, TELCO and TISCO were quoted substantially higher.
