New Delhi: India's Minister of State for External Affairs, Digvijay Singh, told the Lok Sabha on July 30 that
China was in occupation of 128,000 square kilometres of Indian Territory in the states of Arunachal
Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
In addition, Pakistan had illegally given away 5,180 square kilometres of Indian territory in Kashmir to
China under the Sino-Pakistan Boundary Agreement of 1963, adding that New Delhi had several
outstanding boundary-related issues with Beijing and Islamabad.
The house was told that differences between India and China on the boundary question had first
surfaced in 1950's and Pakistan was in illegal occupation of approximately 78,000 square kilometres.
On rumours that the central government was taking fresh initiatives to revive the peace process in Sri
Lanka, the Minister said India was not involved at all.
Singh, in the written reply, said the peace process, facilitated by Norway, is being conducted between
the Sri Lankan government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
The Indian government, however, continues to seek the extradition of LTTE chief V Prabhakaran for his
alleged involvement in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in May 1991, he added.
