Tuesday, July 1 2003 06:40 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought a fresh trial in the Best Bakery case outside Gujarat.

In a Special Leave Petition filed in the Supreme Court on July 31, the NHRC requested for the re-trial of the case that took place in Vadodra in the post-Godhra violence.

The Commission also filed a separate application in the court seeking transfer of four other 'serious' cases-Godhra incident, Chamanpura (Gulbarga society) incident, Naroda party incident and Sadarpura case in Mehsana district -pertaining to the Gujarat riots.
