Opposition walk out of House again over Fernandes
Thursday, July 31 2003 14:17 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Continuing their protest against re-induction of George Fernandes into the Union Cabinet, Congress, Left and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) members on July 31 walked out of Lok Sabha, even as ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Samata Party threatened them with similar action against leader of the Opposition Sonia Gandhi.

As soon as Fernandes rose to reply during Question Hour, members of these parties walked out of the House.

While Speaker Manohar Joshi expressed the hope that the matter would be sorted out soon, BJP chief whip V K Malhotra and Samata Party leader Prabhunath Singh said they should not be "forced to resort to similar action when Sonia Gandhi speaks" in the House.
