New Delhi: With a twinkle in her eyes and face lit with a smile, the two-and-a-half-year-old Pakistani girl
Noor Fatima, who successfully underwent a heart surgery in Bangalore, left for home on August 1 with
hundreds gathered in New Delhi to bid farewell to her.
It was a touching moment for Noor's parents, whose daughter had become an overnight celebrity with
newspersons flocking her and vying for her attention, as they boarded the Delhi-Lahore bus from the
Ambedkar stadium with gifts and good wishes of thousands of Indians.
Noor and her parents had arrived in India in the Lahore-Delhi bus on July 11, when the service resumed
after a gap of 18 months.
Expressing gratitude to the goodwill showed by Indians, a beaming Tayyaba, mother of Noor, said the
prayers and wishes of thousands of people have succeeded" and termed this as the happiest moment
of her life.
Wearing a white frock and a hat, Noor, whose surgery symbolised the renewed peace efforts between
the two countries, waved cheerfully at the reporters present at the terminal.
