Narendra Modi orders detailed probe into Surat blasts

Surat: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on August 4 ordered a detailed inquiry, assisted by
Forensic experts, into the building collapse tragedy in Varachcha area of the textile city.
Modi, who arrived in surat on August 4 morning, visited the building collapse site, instructed the city
Police Commissioner V K Gupta to conduct a `detailed inquiry' into the mishap that left 43 people dead
and 30 injured.
"It is a bad situation and preliminary probe has revealed negligence on part of the person in charge of
the premises that led to the blast,” Modi told reporters at the spot.
"Those who died were aged between 16 and 30 years, and it is a loss of young generation in the state,"
he said even as he assured quick payment of compensation of Rs 50,000 to the kin of the deceased.
Modi assured the kin of the victims at Maskati Hospital that all arrangements would be made to transport
the bodies to their native place.Free treatment would be given to all the injured, he said.
The condition of one person in the hospital is still critical, hospital sources said.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered under sections 304 (A) and 337, 338 and 427 of IPC against
Chinu Radhadiya of Ramnagar Society for `negligence leading to the blast'.
