Mumbai: The SENSEX opened strong and rallied further in line with a sharp upsurge in stocks during the
morning trading on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on August 5 on sustained buying support from
operators on the back of fresh purchases by foreign institutional investors (FIIS).
The BSE-30 share Sensitive Index opened firm at 3845.93 as against August 4's close of 3832.50 and
later moved up further to 3868.05 at 10.30 hours (IST).
Index-based shares like acc, BHEL, BSES, GACL, Hero Honda, Hindalco, HPCL, HLL, ITC, Infosys Tech,
MTNL, RIL, Satyam Computer, SBI, Tisco and Zee telefilms were quoted remarkably higher, aiding the
SENSEX uptrend.
However, Bajaj auto, HDFC, Ranbaxy and Telco showed moderate falls.
Public Sector Undertakings (PSUS) shares, particularly oil majors like HPCL, BPCL, IBP, ONGC and IOC
continued to be in limelight on institutional buying support.
Select second-line pharma counters also attracted good buying enquiries from operators and retail
investors.
