Lucknow: Two sadhus were killed and another injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire in a temple in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh, a Home Department spokesman said on August 7.

Assailants stormed Ishwar Nand Kutti temple in Sidhwapur village and opened fire on August 6 night killing two sadhus on the spot and injuring another, they said.

Unconfirmed reports said the assailants decamped with an idol of goddess.

A combing operation has been launched to nab the culprits, the sources said.
