Kancheepuram: Sankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Mutt Sri Jayendra Saraswathi on August 7 said he had not sent any "fresh proposal" to the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) to solve the vexed Ayodhya issue.

"There is no fresh proposal or any missive from me in this regard," he said.

The seer described as "highly imaginary", reports in a section of the Press that he had sent yet another proposal to the AIMPLB to solve the tangle.

Mutt sources also said that reports in this connection were "grossly erroneous".

The Sankaracharya's proposal sent last month was rejected by the Board on July 6 which had accused him of slamming the doors for talks and giving "veiled threats" to Muslims to surrender unconditionally to Sangh Parivar demands.

Jayendra, however, had denied the charge and said the doors would always remain open for talks with Muslim leaders.
